August Programs and Events
Show & Sale, August 3, 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Lobby & Auditorium
Support local creators and artisans at the Show & Sale. This will feature the East Side Fiber ARTists and various other vendors. There will be sales in the lobby and demonstrations of the art in the auditorium. 10% of all profits help fund library programs.
Ham Radio Classes, August 3 & 17, 2 - 4 p.m., Makerspace
Ham Radio is an age-old pastime that many enjoy, so why not take the plunge and learn how to use one, too? The Tyler Public Library will be hosting Ham Radio Classes the 1st and 3rd Saturday from August through December in our Makerspace Room on the 3rd floor. This class is for anyone interested, from greenhorns to veterans! Available for all ages.
Talking Tales, August 8, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Taylor Auditorium
This month for Talking Tales, we're going to be doing Japanese Tales. This program happens every 2nd Thursday. Each month we have different storytellers tell stories and have discussions afterwards. Available for all ages.
Reel Talk, August 15, 7 p.m., Liberty Hall
Reel Talk is a monthly movie club. Come for the movie and stay after for movie discussions. For August, we'll be showing "Fight Club". Use your Library card to get in for free.
Passport Fair, August 24, 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Taylor Auditorium
Do you need to get a passport or update one that's expired? Bring your documents and things with you to the library and get it done here. Photos will be taken on site for $15. For more information on what's needed for your passport, click here.
Brews & Boards, August 29, 7 - 10 p.m., ETX Brewing Co.
We'll be at ETX Brewing with more games for you to enjoy with friends and family this month. Grab a game at our table and take it to yours to play while you eat, drink, and have a good time. Brews & Boards will not meet in September, but will be back in October for a Halloween special!
Financial Aid Workshop, August 31, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., Taylor Auditorium
A local expert will be instructing a Financial Aid Workshop in the Library's Taylor Auditorium. Any interested in learning more about getting financial aid are encouraged to join us.
September Programs & Events
On September 5, Novel Ideas will be discussing Looking for Alaska by John Green. Join us for our discussion! Refreshments are provided by Walmart.
Blood Drive, September 16, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Library Parking Lot
Come to the Library to help save lives by giving blood. There is currently a blood shortage in East Texas, so please spread the word and come down for it.
